The Garage Studio:
Back in 1997, sound engineer Rowland Ebright organized a few jam sessions in his garage studio with members of
several local bands he'd produced recording projects with over the years. These included Subspecies guitarist Alex
Campbell, Zen drummer Pat Rideaux, Premonition bassist Adam Barnhart, Premonition guitarist Sam
Rutigliano, Disentary bassist and part-time drummer Mike McGarvey, and session bassist/guitarist Dave Chamberlain.
One of the initial purposes of these sessions was to reunite Adam and Sam of Premonition, who no longer
worked together. The result, however, was the creation of a collaborative relationship between Sam and Mike. They decided
to put their own project together, so along with Sam's creative partner, drummer Dave Selvey, they sought out the
powerful lungs of long-lost Premonition vocalist Steve Olds.
They adopted the name StoneBlue and began regular practice sessions, initially putting a fresh twist on
a few old tunes the members had written in previous bands. Out of these sessions, however, the catalog of newer material
grew quickly, and it clearly took the band in stronger and more exciting directions, so they eventually abandoned all but the
strongest of any older songs. They enlisted Rowland as their manager, shot some publicity photos, and started booking gigs...
