Mike started out playing guitar, but came to the conclusion that since so many of his friends did also, he'd be
in more demand as a bassist. While taking courses at Long Beach City College, he worked on recording local thrash-metal band
Phobic. Their drummer, Chris Bonski, wanted to move on to new projects and he and Mike started jamming with a
couple guitarists, honing themselves into the hardest rhythm section around. They eventually formed the three-piece
Disentary with guitarist Brian Dill, but never gained enough momentum to make an impact before calling it quits.
Over the years Mike worked on several studio projects with Rowland Ebright, even having him do some vocals for
Disentary. When Mike was enlisted by Rowland for some jam sessions in 1997, he began working with guitarist Sam
Rutigliano, and they soon began collaborating together. With Dave Selvey on drums, they sought out vocalist Steve Olds and
formed the original version of StoneBlue.
